Training

Build confidence. Improve diagnostic accuracy. Develop skills that translate directly to the shop floor.

I offer hands-on automotive training for technicians and repair facilities, with training available on-site at your shop or in a one-on-one setting. Sessions are designed around practical, real-world diagnostics rather than simply following test procedures or replacing parts.

Training can be tailored to the technician’s experience level, from developing a strong electrical and diagnostic foundation to improving advanced troubleshooting techniques.

Training Topics

Automotive Diagnostics
Develop a logical diagnostic process that helps identify the root cause of a concern efficiently. Training focuses on interpreting information, choosing the right tests, and proving a fault before replacing components.

Driveability Diagnostics
Learn how to approach difficult engine performance and driveability concerns using scan data, system knowledge, testing strategies, and waveform analysis.

Automotive Electrical
Strengthen your understanding of automotive electrical systems and learn practical testing techniques for circuits, sensors, actuators, voltage drop, opens, shorts, high resistance, and intermittent faults.

Lab Scope / Oscilloscope Training
Learn how to confidently use an automotive lab scope as a diagnostic tool. Topics can include scope setup, voltage and time scales, signal acquisition, waveform interpretation, current testing, sensor and actuator testing, relative compression, ignition, network signals, and advanced diagnostic techniques.

Hands-On, Practical Training
Training is focused on understanding what the vehicle is telling you and selecting the right test to confirm the problem. Whenever possible, concepts are demonstrated using actual vehicles, components, scan data, wiring diagrams, and lab scope captures.

The goal is not simply to teach technicians how to use diagnostic equipment—it is to teach them how to think through a diagnostic problem.

Training Options are Available for:

  • Individual one-on-one instruction
  • Small groups
  • In-shop technician training
  • Customized training based on your shop’s needs
  • Specific diagnostic topics or problem areas

Whether you are looking to improve your own diagnostic skills or strengthen the capabilities of your entire team, training can be customized to focus on the areas that will provide the most value.
